The South Texas site, represented by Cameron County (population: N=423,029) in the Rio Grande Valley, is primarily Hispanic, with a considerable proportion of the population (22.6%) living below the federal poverty line, exceeding the national average (11.5%) [29]. The Northeast Texas (NETX) region covers an extensive area, including the Smith, Gregg, Henderson, Van Zandt, Anderson, Wood, and Rains counties.
