To improve cancer treatment decision-making by addressing existing challenges in DSTs, a large European collaboration was started—the 4 D PICTURE (Producing Improved Cancer Outcomes Through User-Centered Research) project [4]. Recognizing the complexity that patients face, the consortium seeks to use design methods (particularly the Metro Mapping methodology, Figure 1) to improve care paths in oncology.

Of note, even when continuous monitoring occurs in the prehospital environment (eg, in mobile intensive care units), the data are typically not recorded or stored, as they are deemed unnecessary for immediate treatment decisions. The absence of such data, curated accordingly, hinders the ability to create accurate models and limits the potential for AI to improve emergency responses and outcomes.

Due to the difficulty in measuring real-world influences by diary, survey, or interview, scientific studies lack evidence for many hypothesized relationships between sociocultural and physical environment factors and onset or worsening of LUTS or deterioration of bladder health. To address this gap, the Prevention of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (PLUS) Research Consortium developed a smartphone app called “Where I Go.”

We aimed to analyze these responses to determine the most important topics and the main “sentiment” to understand the impact of the pandemic. To ensure that our findings were representative of the broader population of children and young people in England, we applied survey weights [22] to the sentiment analysis.

The Health4 Me study was used as the context for this research. The full protocol is published elsewhere [25]. In brief, the Health4 Me Study is a virtual clinical trial, based in Australia, of a community-based, 6-month text message intervention. The intervention aims to improve physical activity and nutrition behaviors among adolescents aged 12 to 18 years.

Participants received a reimbursement of €50 (approximately US $58) for their participation in the entire study. For the present purpose, only the EMA was of interest, and 65 participants underwent the entire EMA assessment.
Daily life experiences were assessed by an EMA. The implementation of the EMA was done by movisens XS (movisens Gmb H) [47], which allows the integration of relevant items and additional information like geospatial measures.

The goal of the study was to understand the types of outcomes that were perceived as meaningful by a diverse sample of adults living with T1 D in Ontario, in the context of their usual care and self-management experiences. In order for the study to inform the trial’s design, we also needed to understand their education and support needs. In addition, we aimed to identify the aspects of a digital health care intervention that were important to individuals living with T1 D.

Coding frame development process.
This research was codeveloped with an advisory board of people with lived experience of either depression, epilepsy, or MS who were gathered together to advise on the following program of study. The advisory board had oversight of the themes in the coding frame and helped with the interpretation of results. Representatives of this board are coauthors who have critically reviewed this paper.
