Notably, family members or bystanders assume a critical role in initiating this chain of survival by administering early and effective CPR. A systematic review and meta-analysis underscore the importance of swift delivery of evidence-based interventions by witnesses, with bystander CPR yielding a number needed to treat of 17 in areas with low baseline bystander CPR rates [3]. Studies show that bystander CPR can be associated with a 3-fold increase in survival with good neurological outcomes.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and early defibrillation increase survival chances [3]. Serious games (SGs) are tools used to enhance the learning process through entertainment. Current strategies focus on teaching CPR to the community and schoolchildren [4].
While other games exist for teaching basic life support (BLS), no studies have validated these for children in low- to middle-income settings.

High-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is the key link in the chain of survival, and successful CPR may increase the survival rate of patients experiencing cardiac arrest [2,3]. For anesthesiology residents, the likelihood of administering CPR is high, and thus CPR training is of utmost importance [4]. Unfortunately, due to limited training quality and efficiency, the overall quality of CPR remains low, which may further lead to undesired outcomes in clinical practice [5,6].

Owing to significant disparities in EMSs, bystander CPR rates, and public access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in different regions, OHCA survival rates exhibit corresponding variations [7]. However, through CPR training and dispatcher-assisted CPR, the global bystander CPR rate has improved from approximately 20% in 2001 to 40% to 55% in 2023 [9-11].

Early detection of cardiac arrest and initiation of CPR have been shown to decrease morbidity and mortality [4-6]. A previous study conducted in Arizona showed that a statewide hands-only CPR public awareness campaign increased bystander CPR rates from 28.2% to 39.9% and improved out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) survival rates from 3.7% to 9.8% [7]. The number of OHCA cases in the United States is approximately 300,000 and the mortality rate is 92% [8].
