In addition, older Latino adults have a higher prevalence of risk factors for cognitive decline, and the rate of increase in risk factors is greatest among Latinos [7,8]. Latinos further engage in less leisure time physical activity and spend more time sedentary, compared to non-Latino White participants, ranging from 46.8% to 74.2% versus 34.3% to 58.2% [9,10]. Thus, increasing physical activity is of tremendous significance to this population.

Happy Older Latinos are Active (HOLA) is a multicomponent, health promotion intervention that incorporates a moderate intensity group walk, uniquely tailored for older Latino adults with HIV. Informed by behavioral activation and social learning theory [54,55], HOLA builds on prior research [56] using health promotion to prevent depression and anxiety in older Latino adults.

Introduction: This sentence should be revised for clarity: “As of January of 2022, Latinos represent 8% of the US 65 and older population, but 13% of COVID-19 cases in the same age group [9].” It is not clear if the 13% of cases is the percentage of COVID-19 cases in Latino individuals aged 65 years and older.

Neither the in-person or virtual STAR-C interventions, however, were developed with explicit consideration of the experience of Latinos providing care to a family member living with ADRD. Caregiver interventions for Latinos need cultural adaptations because cultural values and beliefs, such as familismo (dedication and commitment to family) and respeto (respect) play a pivotal role in shaping caregiving interactions with people living with dementia, experiences, and perceptions of support [13].
