Exploring the Perspectives of Patients Living With Lupus: Retrospective Social Listening Study

In this social listening study, we explored the experience of patients living with lupus (SLE and CLE), as discussed in web-based social media platforms, such as blogs and forums, by searching for posts regarding disease burden, HRQo L impacts, treatment experience, and unmet needs. This retrospective exploratory social listening study was conducted between October 2019 and January 2022 across 13 publicly available English-language social media platforms (Multimedia Appendix 1).

Top Skin-of-Color Publications in Dermatology

An article’s mention in news outlets and on blogs and Twitter were recorded from Altmetric Explorer as well as whether these mentions came from members of the public or practitioners; this we defined as metrics indicative of online media “attention.” The mean (SD), 95% CI, and P values were determined by comparing the metrics provided by the top 50 papers from Altmetric and Wo S. Table 1 presents a comparison of the top 10 cited articles on Wo S and the top 10 articles with the highest AAS.

Challenges and Successes in Raising a Child With Type 1 Diabetes and Autism Spectrum Disorder: Mixed Methods Study

Content from a publicly available forum and 2 blogs were identified through an internet search using the search terms type 1 diabetes and autism and diabetes and autism, which would capture both autism and autism spectrum disorder. Qualitative methods are appropriate for generating new knowledge and hypotheses, especially when little is known about the area of investigation [20].

Glycated Hemoglobin Differences Among Blog-Reading Adults With Type 1 Diabetes Compared With Those Who Do Not Read Blogs: Cross-Sectional Study

Many have sought diabetes-related health information from social media platforms such as You Tube, Twitter, and Facebook [37,38,39] as well as from blogs [40,41,42]. And while there are limited data on an association between glycemia and social media engagement [43], no studies to date have examined a potential relationship between glycemia and blog use specifically. Blogs allow extended and asynchronous sharing of personal experiences and reflections.

A Novel Approach to Identifying Barriers and Facilitators in Raising a Child With Type 1 Diabetes: Qualitative Analysis of Caregiver Blogs

Blogs—public online journals—have become popular in the age of social media. Blogs represent a growing online resource for caregivers to children with T1 D to initiate and receive support. Many bloggers feel that by sharing their struggles and celebrating their successes, blogs help them to more effectively approach the daily self-management T1 D requires [18].

Dental Blogs, Podcasts, and Associated Social Media: Descriptive Mapping and Analysis

Nor did we include blogs mounted on the Dentaltown platform. Blogs and podcasts were inventoried through a combination of online Google Boolean searches (“dentist” OR “dental” OR dentistry” for dentist blogs and podcasts; “hygienist” OR “dental hygiene” for hygienist blogs and podcasts) and iterative searches of discovered sites, accompanying links, and existing curated lists of social media resources.

Development of an Evidence-Informed Blog to Promote Healthy Eating Among Mothers: Use of the Intervention Mapping Protocol

Development of an Evidence-Informed Blog to Promote Healthy Eating Among Mothers: Use of the Intervention Mapping Protocol

Among the different types of social media, emerging evidence revealed that blogs are used by mothers notably for seeking information about child-feeding practices [15]. Blogs consist of Web-based personal journals with dated entries (posts) displayed in reverse chronological order [9]. The interactive communication between users and experts, such as registered dietitians (RDs), through blogs could improve knowledge translation in nutrition to support dietary behavior change efforts [16].

Increasing Fruit and Vegetable Consumption Through a Healthy Eating Blog: A Feasibility Study

Increasing Fruit and Vegetable Consumption Through a Healthy Eating Blog: A Feasibility Study

To overcome these barriers and to inform preventive health care quality improvement, social media interventions in nutrition, such as blogs, could be an effective strategy to reach a large proportion of the Internet population with diverse sociodemographic characteristics, independently of education, race/ethnicity, or health care access [19,20]. Blogs are websites where entries, called posts, are written by individuals or a group of individuals including health professionals [21].
