Effectiveness of a Virtual Reality Serious Video Game (The Secret Trail of Moon) for Emotional Regulation in Children With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: Randomized Clinical Trial

Effectiveness of a Virtual Reality Serious Video Game (The Secret Trail of Moon) for Emotional Regulation in Children With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: Randomized Clinical Trial

The video game integrates bright but calm colors in a cartoon style, friendly characters that accompany the patient in the process, and varied cognitive training games based on neuropsychological tests: (1) Smasher (sustained attention and inhibitory control); (2) Teka Teki (planning); and (3) Kuburi (visuospatial capacity), Chess (reasoning), and Enigma (working memory). The games increase in difficulty level according to patient performance [28].

Effectiveness of a Serious Video Game (MOON) for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Protocol for a Randomized Clinical Trial

Effectiveness of a Serious Video Game (MOON) for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Protocol for a Randomized Clinical Trial

The 105 patients were randomly assigned to the 3 groups: (1) cognitive training (12 sessions) with face-to-face MOON (n=31; 30); (2) cognitive training with online therapeutic chess (n=24; 23); and (3) control group with telephone monitoring (n=34; 32%). Contrary to our expectations, we did not find any statistically significant improvement in executive functioning, which was the primary outcome.

Effectiveness of a Personalized, Chess-Based Training Serious Video Game in the Treatment of Adolescents and Young Adults With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: Randomized Controlled Trial

Effectiveness of a Personalized, Chess-Based Training Serious Video Game in the Treatment of Adolescents and Young Adults With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: Randomized Controlled Trial

This study is aimed at comparing the effectiveness of 2 cognitive gaming strategies in previously optimally drug-titrated, clinically stable patients with ADHD: (1) electronic Therapeutic Chess (TC); and (2) TSTM. Recently, we published the protocol study of our add-on clinical trial [46]. Basically, the TC group received chess lessons and had to solve both traditional chess exercises (related to the video tutorial for each week) and TC exercises.

A Virtual Reality Game (The Secret Trail of Moon) for Treating Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: Development and Usability Study

A Virtual Reality Game (The Secret Trail of Moon) for Treating Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: Development and Usability Study

Some recent proposals include the use of board games, such as chess [10]; neurofeedback [11,12]; virtual reality (VR) [13]; or serious video games [14]. All of these new approaches have the potential to keep people with ADHD motivated and engaged during therapy. Indeed, serious video games can be very stimulating and provide immediate reinforcement [15].

The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Chess World

All major chess events that were to take place in the second half of 2020 have been canceled, including the 44th Chess Olympiad and the match for the title of World Chess Champion. However, a lot of major national and international chess competitions were recently played online for the first time in history.
