What is Diminished Virtuality? A Directional and Layer-Based Taxonomy for the Reality-Virtuality Continuum

What is Diminished Virtuality? A Directional and Layer-Based Taxonomy for the Reality-Virtuality Continuum

The reality-virtuality (RV) continuum is a concept introduced by Paul Milgram and Fumio Kishino [1] in 1994. It describes a spectrum that ranges from a purely physical reality (the real world) to a purely virtual reality (VR; a completely computer-generated environment), with various degrees of mixed reality (MR) in between.

Implementing Technology Literacy Programs in Retirement Homes and Residential Care Facilities: Conceptual Framework

Implementing Technology Literacy Programs in Retirement Homes and Residential Care Facilities: Conceptual Framework

Author KL identified and extracted every major concept from en TECH’s knowledge translation toolkit, focusing on TLP; these concepts were organized under the 13 TLP domains. Authors NN, CW, and KL performed a final check of the domains and associated concepts on the Miro whiteboard. The resulting Miro whiteboard is shown in Multimedia Appendix 1. Authors KL, NN, EM, and CW finalized the categorization of the concepts into either foundational principles or potential actions for each domain.

Development of a Search Task Using Immersive Virtual Reality: Proof-of-Concept Study

Development of a Search Task Using Immersive Virtual Reality: Proof-of-Concept Study

Therefore, the aim of this proof-of-concept study was to develop a serious game using i VR in which participants perform a visual search task that encourages the exploration of their environment. We hypothesized that the given task has high usability and limited or no side effects and that the performance can be adapted dynamically to the skills of the participants. The main goal of this study was to develop a gamified search task that encourages players to explore their visual environment.

Disease Concept-Embedding Based on the Self-Supervised Method for Medical Information Extraction from Electronic Health Records and Disease Retrieval: Algorithm Development and Validation Study

Disease Concept-Embedding Based on the Self-Supervised Method for Medical Information Extraction from Electronic Health Records and Disease Retrieval: Algorithm Development and Validation Study

With the rapid development of natural language processing and deep learning during this decade, several models have been released to manage EHRs [1,8-10] using several primary tasks, including disease classification, prediction of clinical events, and concept embedding [2]. Due to the lack of gold standard label data for model training, concept embedding is critical to all EHR-related tasks [1,2,11,12].
