Assessing Total Hip Arthroplasty Outcomes and Generating an Orthopedic Research Outcome Database via a Natural Language Processing Pipeline: Development and Validation Study

The primary goal of this study was, therefore, to design and develop an automated NLP pipeline for extracting clinical concepts from reports on outpatients, hospitalizations, and surgeries from a single surgeon, multicenter practice. Using the pipeline, the secondary goal was to examine and evaluate therapies and complications following THA. Patients were invited to participate in the research on the direct anterior approach (DAA) of hip replacement.

Effects of Injury Registry Data on Policy Making, Hospitalizations, and Mortality: Protocol for a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Effects of Injury Registry Data on Policy Making, Hospitalizations, and Mortality: Protocol for a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Every year, tens of millions of individuals around the world endure nonfatal injuries, resulting in visits to emergency rooms, acute care facilities, or hospitalizations [1]. In Brazil, in 2021, the number of hospitalizations within the public health system due to injuries was 8.4 times higher than the number of deaths. That year witnessed nearly 600 injury-related hospitalizations per 100,000 Brazilians, totaling 1,247,109 hospitalizations.

However, nationally representative data to estimate the frequency of hospitalizations occurring in the Spanish population are scarce [26,28]. In Spain, the National Health System is a publicly funded health insurance system offering universal coverage to individuals at no cost. It is fully financed by the general tax fund, thereby ensuring nationwide data availability for acute diseases such as FIA.

The Changing Landscape of Respiratory Viruses Contributing to Hospitalizations in Quebec, Canada: Results From an Active Hospital-Based Surveillance Study

The Changing Landscape of Respiratory Viruses Contributing to Hospitalizations in Quebec, Canada: Results From an Active Hospital-Based Surveillance Study

In the 2 subsequent pandemic years, RSV was again the most frequently detected virus in children, while influenza and SARS-Co V-2 had a low etiological contribution to pediatric ARI hospitalizations. In 2021-22, most of the hospitalizations in children were due to ORVs without SARS-Co V-2 (278/341, 81.5%), and only 8.8% (30/341) were due to SARS-Co V-2 (including 10 coinfections with ORVs).

Risk Prediction of Emergency Department Visits in Patients With Lung Cancer Using Machine Learning: Retrospective Observational Study

Risk Prediction of Emergency Department Visits in Patients With Lung Cancer Using Machine Learning: Retrospective Observational Study

Further, a comprehensive study conducted on hospitalizations related to sepsis incidence and mortality rates among patients with cancer in the United States revealed that patients with lung cancer had the highest mortality rate [10]. These findings from previous studies demonstrate the poor prognosis for patients with severe lung cancer–related conditions in the ED.
