Perinatal loss is a painful and traumatic experience that can negatively affect a couple’s life; when the child dies, the plans for a new arrival in the family are abruptly halted, and the couple must process their mourning [62-65]. This interior processing of the grief over death is a necessary event, and the extent of their suffering depends on the affective investment of the parental couple in the child [66-69].
