Transitioning Perspectives in Digital Health Through Phenomenology Integration
Adopting a phenomenological approach therefore largely entails the incorporation of lived experience into the investigation [23]. This entails using the Husserlian lens of phenomenology [24], which underscores the necessity of epochè as an essential methodological approach for the examination of experiences. This is crucial in the development of conscious digital health solutions.

This study adopted a qualitative phenomenological research design [21,22]. A phenomenological approach facilitated a greater understanding of the lived experiences of patient advisors and the VC experiences of patients [23]. More specifically, this study was guided by an interpretive (or hermeneutic) phenomenological lens [24], with a focus on understanding each individual’s meaningful experience before gaining insight into the collective whole across participants.

While thematic analysis (TA) will focus on NAGYP’s lived experiences in terms of what a CMD as a phenomenon “looks like,” interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) [34] will focus on what it “feels like” [35]. In context, TA will culminate in “deeper-level analysis relating to power and communities” [35], and on the other hand, IPA will “give voice” to and “make sense” [36] of NAGYP’s own accounts.
