To identify early hedonic responses to taste stimuli in infants, studies used modified facial behavior methods, such as the Baby Facial Actions Coding System (Baby FACS), to quantify taste-elicited facial expressions in infants and their relationship to their mothers’ diet and feeding behavior [21,22].
Breastfeeding is associated with positive effects on later eating habits [23,24], adequate weight gain during infancy, and a moderately lower risk for childhood obesity [25,26].

Patients with anosmia and ageusia occasionally reported distorted smell and taste (parosmia and dysgeusia) as well as the smell and taste without the sources of the smell or taste (phantosmia and phantogeusia). Table 3 summarizes the reports from the patients. Although there are various ways to describe the nature of phantosmia and phantogeusia, a smell and taste of smoke and burnt material was most frequently reported.

Therefore, there is a need for objective testing of smell and taste loss in patients infected with COVID-19 using standardized smell and taste stimuli [29-31]. Moreover, due to extensive restrictions on movement, the need to socially distance, and the potential for infection spread with reusable standardized odor and taste test materials, the collection of in-person physical data is challenging.
