Methodology for Biological Sample Collection, Processing, and Storage in the Newcastle 1000 Pregnancy Cohort: Protocol for a Longitudinal, Prospective Population-Based Study in Australia

NEW1000 has been designed for standardized collection of blood, urine, saliva, buccal swabs, microbiome swabs, toenails, and hair samples from the mother, father (or partner), and infant. In addition, cord blood, placenta, and colostrum samples will be collected at birth, and breastmilk samples will be collected 6 weeks and 6 months postpartum (Figure 1). NEW1000 stage 1 biological sample collection timepoints.
