High Potassium Diet Rich in Spices and Herbs-Salt Substitution (HPSH-SS) for Blood Pressure Reduction in Older Adults: Protocol for Diet Concept and Randomized Controlled Trial

High Potassium Diet Rich in Spices and Herbs-Salt Substitution (HPSH-SS) for Blood Pressure Reduction in Older Adults: Protocol for Diet Concept and Randomized Controlled Trial

Increased K intake inhibits free radical formation from endothelial dysfunction and vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation. Increased K also inhibits platelet aggregation and arterial thrombosis, conditions often associated with platelet oxidative stress in older adults. Consequently, elevated K levels decrease urine and plasma isoprostane F2 levels [35].

Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma as a Dangerous, Easy to Miss, and Nearly Impossible to Clinically Diagnose Condition: Case Report

Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma as a Dangerous, Easy to Miss, and Nearly Impossible to Clinically Diagnose Condition: Case Report

Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is an extremely rare cancer, accounting for less than 1% of all vascular tumors, demonstrating features between those of hemangioma and angiosarcoma [1]. Although first described by Dail and Liebow in 1975, the term EHE was only first proposed by Weiss and Enzinger in 1982 [1]. These tumors can occur at any age, with 38 years being the median age at diagnosis [2].

The Effect of Acupuncture on Brain Iron Deposition and Body Iron Metabolism in Vascular Cognitive Impairment: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

The Effect of Acupuncture on Brain Iron Deposition and Body Iron Metabolism in Vascular Cognitive Impairment: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) is a series of clinical syndromes that encompasses mild cognitive impairment to severe vascular dementia (VD) caused by cerebrovascular disease and its risk factors [1]. VCI accounts for 15% to 20% of all patients with dementia in North America and Europe, and up to 30% of patients with dementia in Asia, making it the second most prevalent type of dementia after Alzheimer disease [2].

Intravenous Ascorbic Acid for the Prevention of Postreperfusion Syndrome in Orthotopic Liver Transplantation: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Intravenous Ascorbic Acid for the Prevention of Postreperfusion Syndrome in Orthotopic Liver Transplantation: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

They defined PRS as a deep and transient cardiovascular collapse immediately after graft reperfusion, with severe bradycardia, decreased mean arterial pressure (MAP) and systemic vascular resistance, severe arrhythmias, increased pulmonary artery pressure and central venous pressure, and even cardiac arrest. They defined it as a decrease in MAP of more than 30% within the first 5 minutes of graft reperfusion lasting at least 1 minute.

Thoughts and Experiences of Behçet Disease From Participants on a Reddit Subforum: Qualitative Online Community Analysis

Thoughts and Experiences of Behçet Disease From Participants on a Reddit Subforum: Qualitative Online Community Analysis

Symptoms include oral ulcers as well as a range of manifestations that can involve the articular, neurologic, ocular, vascular, gastrointestinal, urogenital, pulmonary, and cardiac systems [1,2]. Although rare, BD affects people from around the world, and it is relatively more common among patients from the Silk Road demographic (including regions in the Middle East and Asia) [1,3].

Postoperative Sigmoidoscopy and Biopsy After Elective Endovascular and Open Aortic Surgery for Preventing Mortality by Colonic Ischemia (PSB-Aorta-CI): Protocol for a Prospective Study

Postoperative Sigmoidoscopy and Biopsy After Elective Endovascular and Open Aortic Surgery for Preventing Mortality by Colonic Ischemia (PSB-Aorta-CI): Protocol for a Prospective Study

Because of the evidence and experience from the last 30 years, most vascular surgeons now consider EVAR as the treatment of choice in the elective and emergency context, leaving OR for individual cases with anatomic unsuitability for EVAR, mycotic abdominal aortic aneurysms, conversion after early or delayed failure or infection of EVAR, or patient preferences (Figure 1). Flowchart of surgical procedures.

Augmented Reality in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery: Scoping Review

Augmented Reality in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery: Scoping Review

Literature on the applicability of AR in vascular surgery is extremely limited [11]. A recent review on the applicability of HMDs and smart glasses in vascular surgery highlighted the application of AR HMDs in a number of surgical specialties. However, only 4 papers in this review reported applications relevant to vascular surgery in particular [11]. To date, no review has been conducted on the application of the spectrum of AR technologies in the fields of vascular and endovascular surgery.

A Multimodal Imaging–Based Deep Learning Model for Detecting Treatment-Requiring Retinal Vascular Diseases: Model Development and Validation Study

A Multimodal Imaging–Based Deep Learning Model for Detecting Treatment-Requiring Retinal Vascular Diseases: Model Development and Validation Study

Retinal vascular diseases, including diabetic macular edema (DME), neovascular age-related macular degeneration (n AMD), myopic choroidal neovascularization (m CNV), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO), highly affect visual function and lead to loss of working ability and impaired life quality [1-4]. Anti–vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) can improve visual outcomes for patients with retinal diseases [5].
