This study aimed to assess the impact of the Text4 Hope-Addiction Support program on subscribers. The specific objective of this study was to assess the impact of the program in reducing cravings, anxiety, and depression symptoms in subscribers. Gender is a crucial determinant of mental health [36], and gender analysis aids in improving the understanding of mental health issues and other interventions for mental health [36,37].

This study aims to examine the psychological impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic among different groups of HCWs who were enrolled in the Text4 Hope program.
The primary objectives are:
Studying the demographic characteristics and the prevalence and mean scores of perceived stress, likely major depressive disorder (MDD), and likely generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) among HCWs.
Studying the predictors of developing likely stress, MDD, and GAD among HCWs.

Similar to the Text4 Mood program, individual Text4 Hope self-subscribers receive daily text messages. However, while the Text4 Mood messages were crafted to mainly address anxiety, depression, and general well-being among residents of Northern Alberta, the Text4 Hope messages were crafted to predominantly address COVID-19–related stress, anxiety, and depression among all Albertans.

This protocol describes the implementation of the Text4 Hope program (a low-cost, evidence-based, supportive SMS text messaging service) in Canada. The objective of the project is to implement a self-subscribing daily supportive text message program (Text4 Hope) to close the psychological treatment gap and reduce anxiety and stress related to the COVID-19 crisis among Canadians.
